CHENNAI: The Anti Corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested two more postgraduate medical students in connection with All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE) question paper leak case.
According to sources, Duraimurugan, an MS Ortho student with the Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, and Christopher, a student of JIPMER, Pondicherry, were arrested by the CBI sleuths on Wednesday.
The CBI also found out the place from where the accused had purchased the docupen, a high-tech scanner, which was used to scan the questions and later transmit them through mobile phones as SMS. The docupens were purchased from a shop in T Nagar for a price ranging between Rs 12,000 and Rs 14,000.
The CBI on Wednesday brought Presidency College professor Kathamuthu, who was arrested in this case a couple of days ago, into its custody for two days for further interrogation, sources here said. The other four major accused, Ravi Kannan, Vijay Kannan, Bhaskar and Sathish Kumar were remanded in judicial custody. They were first taken to CBI custody.
