NEDUMBASSERY: Air Arabia, the Sharjah-based United Arab Emirates’ national budget carrier, will launch services from the Cochin International Airport on May 5, said CIAL managing director V.J. Kurian.
The airline will start off with daily service between Kochi and Sharjah. A 183-seater Airbus-320 will be deployed to operate the service. The flight is scheduled to arrive here at 6.25 p.m. and return to Sharjah at 7.10 p.m.
Discussions regarding the commencement of services have been held between the airlines’ Operations head, Shabeer Kambartta, and the airport authorities, it is learnt.
The fares offered by Air Arabia are expected to be lower than that offered by Air India Express, the no-frills subsidiary of Air-India, which already operates services in this sector.
