Bollywood Actor Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of hunting a Chinkara deer in 1998.

A fine of Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain also imposed Rs 25,000 fine on Salman.

Salman has been taken to the Jodhpur Central jail where he Is likely to be lodged for two days. The courts are closed for two days after which his lawyers can apply for bail.Salman’s lawyer told NDTV that they would study the judgement and re-appeal in the case. [Wildlife Act ] – The local court in Jodhpur found the actor and co-accused Govardhan Singh, the watchman of the farm where they went hunting, guilty under the Wildlife Act. The actor was present in court when the verdict was delivered. The watchman has been sentenced to one year in jail and fined Rs 5,000. Salman has already been sentenced to a year’s imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 in another Chinkara case
