UNSUNG HERO? Javed’s family is up in arms and is alleging medical negligence

New Delhi: Javed, the 18-year-old high school student who saved eight children from the Meerut Brand India fair fire, succumbed to his burns on Thursday.
Javed, who was admitted to the burns ward of Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, had suffered 70 per cent burns in the fire that killed at least 60 people.
He was a resident of Mandavli in Delhi and had gone to the Meerut trade fair on Monday with his friends.
As the fire broke out, he rescued eight children trapped in the hall and got severely burnt in the process.
Javed’s family is now crying foul and are allegeing medical negligence.
According to them, Javed had passed away at around 0500 hrs (IST), but they were informed about it only five hours later.
Javed’s father said the Meerut hospital – where Javed was initially admitted – had assure dhim that his son’s chances of survival would go up to 20 per cent from one per cent if he was taken to the Delhi hospital.
