UDF-RSS deal obvious: Pinarayi

SULTAN BATHERY: The UDF is on a secret agenda; that of cooking up a victory with the support of the RSS to win the Assembly elections, alleged Pinarayi Vijayan, state secretary of the CPM on Monday.
Addressing a public meeting organised in connection with the election campaign of the LDF, Pinarayi said that the UDF was forced by the RSS to withdraw the police case against the venomous VHP leader Togadia as a pre-condition for secret support in elections.
During the last Parliament elections, the same thing happened in Thiruvananthapuram where the BJP candidate C.K. Padmanabhan contested.
“He had cut a sorry figure with BJP losing around 2 lakh RSS votes. The deal was carried out by the Mukundan-group with the blessings of the RSS,” he alleged.
“This time in 59 constituencies, the RSS men were conspicuous by their absence indicating another deal between RSS and the UDF,” he added.
With the traditional vote banks including the PDP and many Christian denominations distancing from the UDF and supporting the LDF, the fate of the UDF will be bleaker.
