Patna: An occult practitioner in a Bihar village sacrificed two of his own uncles to appease a Hindu goddess in the hope of strengthening his so-called magical powers.
The police have recovered the two bodies and are trying to nab Vikas Das, the main accused.
The gruesome incident of human sacrifice took place in Satghara village under the Amarpur police station in the state's Banka district. After killing them Sunday night, their heads were chopped off to perform rituals.
"From the preliminary investigation, followed by the recovery of the headless bodies, it appears to be a case of human sacrifice to appease the goddess," S.K. Mauyar, the officer in charge of the police station, told IANS Tuesday. He believed Vikas had killed the victims with the help of two other occult practitioners to acquire high magic powers.
Natu Das, father of the two slain men, said his sons had fallen prey to superstition and blind faith. He added that Vikas, his grandson, was teaching both his maternal uncles how to become occult practitioners for last few weeks.
Natu Das is a resident of Amba village in neighbouring Bhagalpur district.
