NEW DELHI, May 11 (Xinhua) — Indian Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee said here Thursday that 11 defense personnel posted in northeast India have been put on court for espionage, Indo-Asian News Service reported.
The government noticed a case of missing classified documents of the army, Mukherjee said in reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian Parliament.
A service personnel attached to the Headquarters 4 Corps at Tezpur of northeast India's Assam was involved in stealing a few classified documents and data in July 2005, he said.
The news agency did not report the reason why to steal the documents.
A Court of Inquiry found the concerned service person guilty and 10 others blameworthy of negligence.
"Disciplinary and administrative proceedings against these service personnel have been initiated as per rules," Mukkherjee added.
