HT Correspondent, Gorakhpur, May 13

STEPPING UP their agitation against district magistrate, hundreds of BJP activists took out a procession and handed over a memorandum, addressed to the Governor, to the divisional commissioner.

They demanded that divisional commissioner should take initiative to take action against the district magistrate. Senior BJP leader Shital Pandey said that the name of district magistrate Hariom came to light during the CB- CID probe into the food grain scam in Ballia.  The scam occurred during Dr Hariom’s  tenure as Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Ballia.

Pandey said the probe report revealed that administrative officer was misusing his power and involved in corruption. Vishwa Hindu Mahasang leader Ramesh Singh Pahelwan and Hindu Yuva Vahini president Sunil Singh said that Dr Hariom had lost his moral right to continue as district magistrate. They said that the role of the district magistrate in recently concluded panchayat election was also suspicious.
