Jaipur: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) committee, probing the allegations of encroachment of land by one its legislators in Rajasthan, has found him guilty.
The committee, which was formed by state president Mahesh Sharma, found Gopal Lal Dhobhi guilty after recording statements of over 50 people.
Sharma has now summoned Dhobhi to Jaipur and after hearing his views, the party is likely to decide action against him.
"The party will decide on what action has to be taken against Dhobhi only after he presents his version on the case before the state party president here," a senior BJP leader told IANS here.
Thousands of residents of Kekri town, over 130 km from, here took to roads Saturday against what they called "Dhobhi's move to encroach upon a piece of land valued at millions of rupees".
They shouted slogans against him, vandalised his house and tried to torch his vehicle.
Sensing trouble, Dhobhi fled the scene and his whereabouts are not known.
The crowd also shouted slogans against the BJP city president Shantilal Jain and Kekri municipal chief Sushila Devi Jain and stoned their houses.
The local administration had to call for additional police force from Ajmer to control the situation.
