Madhya Pradesh, India (AHN)– A Dalit (lower-caste) bridegroom despite opposition from upper-caste members in his village decided to march to his bride's house on a tusker elephant.
The man was given police protection due to outrage in the Sarula village when upper-caste members opposed the groom's plan to ride an elephant during his wedding procession.
When the groom refused to climb down from the elephant, police escorted him to avoid a clash.
