Lucknow, May 15: The newly-formed Peoples' Democratic Front PDF), comprising representatives of Muslim outfits and religious scholars, today charged Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's government in Uttar Pradesh with ignorning Muslims and promoting Yadavs in recruitment to police.
"In the recent recruitment in the state police force as many as 1,800 people were recruited of which only 30 were Muslims while Yadavs comprised a staggering 1000", PDF Chairman and noted Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad told newsmen here.
He said Yadavs and Dalits comprised only seven and 12 per cent of the total population in the state respectively while the Muslims constituted 23 per cent but they hardly got any share in the police and Provincial Armed Constabulary.
Jawwad demanded that at least 20 per cent Muslims be recruited in the police and PAC in the state.
