Kochi, May 16: The Kerala High Court today ordered status quo regarding eviction of tribals now occupying the area earmarked for resettlement of tribals in Aarlam farm.

The order was issued by a Division Bench, comprising Justice K Thankappan and Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan on a writ petition filed by C K Janu, Chairperson of the Adivasi Gotra Mahasabha.

The petitioner sought for a direction to the government to desist from evicting the adivasis now occupying in all blocks earmarked for resettlement of tribals in Aarlam farm.

The bench directed the government to inform it of its stand.

Out of the total 3060 hectares of land, about 3750 acres of land was set apart for distribution to landless tribals.
