New Delhi, May 18: The VHP on Thursday called the Central proposal for OBC reservations in educational institutions a conspiracy to divide Hindus, but stopped short of demanding its immediate withdrawal.
VHP leader Ashok Singhal instead blamed the Congress for the country’s high levels of illiteracy.
“I can tell students that they should not fight with each other over reservation proposals which are a conspiracy to divide Hindus,” he said.
The VHP leader, however, parried questions whether he opposed the quota proposals for OBCs, which make up a large part of the country’s one billion-plus population. Nor did he demand withdrawal of the proposals.
