Pro-quota Muslim activists demand quota for SCs among them

New Delhi, May 18: Pro-quota Muslim activists today demanded reservation for SCs amongst Dalit Muslims and Christians and extension of Mandal Commission recommendations to the judiciary, legislature and private sectors.

At a day-long dharna organised under the banner of all India United Muslim Morcha, Kamal Ashraf, spokesperson of the outfit also asked for separate reservation for poor among upper castes on the grounds of economic backwardness and dismissal of the knowledge commission.

"The reservation policy is an effort to bring homogeneity in the society and not for bringing dominance of one faction over the other," he said.

"As per social justice, a decision should be taken in the central cabinet to remove religious restriction from Article 341 in order to re-include Dalit Muslims and Christians in SC category," Ghaus Siwani, national vice president of the outfit said.
