Shivpuri (MP): A Samajwadi Party MLA of Uttar Pradesh and his two sons were arrested, allegedly with "illegal" firearms on the Shivpuri-Sheopur road in Sirsod police station area near here today and sent on judicial remand till May 31, police said.
SP MLA from Babina Ratanlal Ahirwar and his sons Rohit and Mohit were arrested with three country-made pistols and four live cartridges when they were going towards Kota in Rajasthan in a jeep this afternoon, Sirsod police station in-charge Narendra Singh said.
They were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate who sent them on judicial remand till May 31, he added.
The MLA and his sons were also wanted in three cases registered against them at Jhansi police station for crimes like attempted murder, abduction, extortion and attacking government servants, Singh said, adding a police team from Uttar Pradesh also arrived here to arrest them.
Refuting all charges, Ahirwar alleged that he was being framed and had become a victim of political vendetta.
Talking to reporters, the SP MLA accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav of levelling fake charges against him and settling scores for voting in favour of a BSP candidate during last Rajya Sabha polls.
