Dhanbad: The BJP would launch a special drive to increase literacy among Muslims in Jharkhand to prevent them from being "used as a vote bank".
Kamal Khan, the in-charge of the cell, said at the inauguration of a two-day executive meet today that the Congress and RJD were "using" the community as a "vote bank" by painting the BJP as their "enemy".
Illiteracy was the main drawback and reason for the backwardness among the Muslims in the state and after six years of BJP rule in Jharkhand and at the Centre the community's perception about the party had changed, Khan claimed.
The party would also enrol 50,000 Muslims as its members in Jharkhand, he said.
BJP, he said, was firm in its stand on banning "forced" conversion or conversion for "profit".
