It's dynasty politics for BJP now

New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has always attacked the Congress for playing dynasty politics. But now the BJP itself is at the receiving end.

BJP is trying to garner support from the Congress for a Rajya Sabha berth for either Pramod Mahajan'son Rahul or his wife Rekha.

Considering the tragic circumstances under which Pramod Mahajan died, NCP Chief and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had agreed to it.

But the Congress has refused the vacant seat it insists should go in its kitty. It's a decision that has embarrassed the BJP and left it with a bitter taste.

"The party has not taken a decision on this matter. So the Congress should not perceive that we would be like them," says BJP Spokesman, Arun Jaitley.

The dynasty drama in the BJP has gone one step further. The BJP's Gandhi – Varun – is expected to get a ticket from Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh). For the Congress, it's the perfect opportunity to hit back.

"Whenever there are other people seeking ticket on the basis of association with a family, then the BJP blinks, it forgets and suffers from amnesia," says Congress Spokesperson, Abhishek Singhvi.

All along it was the Congress, which was blamed for playing the dynasty card. But now as the BJP struggles to create a new identity, it's leaving no stone unturned.
