In a setback to Sreeram Mills' scion Abhishek Kasliwal, who has been booked in a rape case, a laboratory test has confirmed that the semen recovered on the victim's clothes matched with Kasliwal, police sources said today.
The police officials said a conclusive DNA fingerprinting report would strengthen the rape case against Kasliwal further. The charge-sheet in the rape case is expected to be filed soon, they said.
Worli Police, who are probing rape charges against Kasliwal on a complaint lodged by a 52-year-old woman, had sent the victim's clothes along with Kasliwal's semen samples to the centre for DNA fingerprinting & Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad, for DNA fingerprinting, report of which has reached recently.
The case was referred to CBFD after tests performed at the Regional Forensic Laboratory here did not prove conclusive, police sources said.
Kasliwal was arrested after a 52-year-old woman claimed, she was raped by him at Sreeram Mills' premises in his car on the night of March 11.
The woman alleged that Kasliwal offered her a ride when she was waiting at a bus stop in south Mumbai late in the night. Rather than droping her to the desired place, Kasliwal took her to Sreeram Mills where he allegedly raped her, the woman has claimed.
Hair samples and condoms were seized by police from Kasliwal's Mercedes car during the probe and sent for forensic examinations, reports of which have already reached police, sources said.
