MUMBAI: When the Provogue scandal was being investigated last year, Joint Commissioner of Police Arup Patnaik had received an anonymous letter accusing Rahul Mahajan and a Union minister’s nephew of being cocaine consumers.
Patnaik confirmed receiving such a letter but told DNA on Saturday that he could not recollect all the names in it. “It’s been a long time,” he said.
A senior IPS officer said the charge was not investigated because the letter was anonymous. Senior Inspector D Sudam of the Santa Cruz domestic airport police station said, “The earlier senior inspector was transferred and papers relating to the case were submitted to court. So I cannot comment on the issue.”
