Robbers kill former DIG on Bihar train

Armed thieves on a train in Patna have shot dead an ex-police officer and looted passengers, before they were captured.

Up to six thieves raided an air-conditioned compartment of Rajendra Nagar-Lokmanya Tilak Superfast Express near Patna station, officials said.

A top police official in the area added the robbers carried pistols and fired at least two shots.

Anil Kumar Singh, a former DIG, was shot when he resisted attempts by the thieves to snatch his belongings as the train pulled out of Rajendra Nagar station.

One of the robbers arrested on board the train led police to hideouts in Karbigahiya and Mithapur area where the others were arrested.
