Pondicherry, June. 7 (PTI): The Principal District and Sessions Court here today adjourned to July 19 hearing in the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswati and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi, are the prime accused.
When the matter came up, defence counsel told the court that a petition on the issue of appearance of public prosecutors from Tamil Nadu, would be taken up by the Supreme Court in July second week.
Following this, Judge M Chinnapandi posted the case to July 19.
Out of 24 accused in the case, five, including the two 'Acharayas', were not present when the hearing began. Petitions were filed seeking to dispense with their presence. Defence counsel Solomon also filed a petition seeking release of the vehicle of an accused Appu, but the Judge did not concede it.
None of the public prosecutors from Tamil Nadu were present at the hearing today.
