Seven year old girl's body was found in a sack

Thrissur: The police on Sunday said investigation into the death of the seven-year-old girl, Jaseela, was in full swing.

Jaseela's body was found in a sack at Purakkulam in Chamakkala on Saturday night. Jaseela, daughter of Naushad of Pathiyarathu House and Sulfath, was missing since 6 p.m. on Saturday. Relatives and local residents found Jaseela's body in a sack in a building under construction at Chamakkala. The sack was covered with another. The body was found to have injuries on the neck and head.

The police said Jaseela and her sister Jamsin had gone to the house of their neighbour, Purakkulam Siddique, on Saturday evening to watch TV. Jaseela left Siddque's house around 6 p.m. and Jasmin stayed there. Since then, Jaseela was missing. Jazeela is a class three student of Chamakkala Government School. Forensic experts examined the building where the body was found. Post-mortem was performed and the body was laid to rest. Chamakkala witnessed heart-rending scenes when the body was taken there. The police suspect that Jaseela was raped and killed.

Inspector General of Police B. Sandhya, Deputy Superintendent of Police K. S. Thomachan, Valappad Circle Inspector S. T. Suresh Kumar and T.N. Prathapan, MLA, visited the place on Saturday. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran called on Jaseela's relatives on Sunday.
