Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two former Jammu and Kashmir ministers in connection with the Srinagar sex scandal.
Independent MLA from Habba Kadal constituency, in Jammu and Kashmir, Raman Matoo was arrested in Srinagar while Congress MLA, G A Mir was arrested in Delhi.
Earlier, Border Security Force DIG K S Padhi, who is an accused in the Srinagar sex scandal, was also arrested.
The CBI had issued the warrant after Padhi, who is currently posted in Assam, failed to appear for an identification parade.
Yasmeena, the 15-year-old rape victim, has alleged that Padhi was one of the 11 people who raped her.
Yasmeena has also alleged that the 11 people knew Sabeena, the alleged kingpin of the racket, and visited her house.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohd Ashraf Mir, also alleged to be involved in the Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal.
The petition challenged the Jammu and Kashmir High Court order, which refused to allow anticipatory bail or regular bail by any subordinate court in this case, without its permission.
An order to this effect was passed by a vacation Bench comprising Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice C K Thakker.
Mir is one of three persons who had failed to appear for a Test Identification Parade despite being issued two notices by the CBI.
The CBI recently took over the investigation of the case following a request from the state government.
