Mangalore, Jun 12: Whether it is failure of law and order in the city or sign of religious intolerance, no one can define. But one thing is sure that these kind incidents are surely the signs of a sick society.
In an incident of storming a restaurant, a few Bajrang Dal activists damaged a restaurant at Bendorewell here on Sunday June 11 night.
A group of 5-6 Bajrang Dal activists entered Hotel New Star near Karavali Circle here and ransacked it. They damaged the furniture in the restaurant with wooden clubs. It is also said that they threatened the restaurant owner Mohammad Kunhi with life.
Though the exact reasons behind this attack are not known as yet, it is widely presumed that the restaurant was ransacked since it served beef for its customers. A few restaurant serving beef have been attacked in the last couple of months in the city by Bajrang Dal activists. It was only in the last week that in a similar incident one "Hotel Everest" situated at Padil near here was ransacked. The accused in the incident were later held by the Kankanady police on Friday June 9.
The Kankanady police have registered a case now as per the complaint filed by Hotel New Star owner Mohammad Kunhi.
