Raipur, Aug. 28 (PTI): Bajrang Dal activists today broke window panes and set the CPI (M) flag on fire at the venue of a meeting chaired by Communist leader Brinda Karat accusing her of working as "an agent of Naxalites" and for her "opposition" to yoga guru Ramdev.
About hundred Bajrang Dal activists entered the meeting venue here this evening raising slogans against Karat and broke windows and several other objects, party sources said.
Armed with batons and waving tridents, the activists also set on fire the CPI(M) flag outside the meeting place, they said.
Chhattisgarh CPI(M) secretariat member Dharmaraj Mahapatra accused the state police and BJP Government for the incident.
"If the incident of violence was committed in front of armed police than no one else other than the police and state BJP Government can be blamed for the bad situation here," Mahapatra told PTI.
Karat also condemned the violence and said her party cadres were not afraid of any such incidents.
After the incident, security was tightened in and around the meeting place. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, Raipur Superintendent of Police G S Bamra said.
