YAMUNANAGAR: Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh on Sunday sought separate trial in a defamation case filed in a local court against him by the RSS.

Singh filed the petition in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Ashwani Goel that the proceedings against him should be continued as they have been stayed only against a co-accused by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The counsel for the RSS contended that the application moved by Arjun Singh was totally misconceived and was not tenable under law. It was further contended that no provision of law has been cited under which Singh has moved the application for a separate trial.

The court after hearing the two applications adjourned the matter to November 6. RSS Haryana sanghchalak Darshan Lal Jain, had filed a petition on December 24, 2004 against Singh and some others for his speech against the organisation.
