Jail term for lawyer in murder case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fast Track Court I Judge Y. Thajudeen Koya on Monday sentenced a 40-year-old advocate to two-and-a-half years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs.25,000 after he was found guilty of harassing his wife to death in December 1998. In case of default of payment of the fine amount, the accused will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for another six months.

Public prosecutor Vattappara Sajan Prasad appeared on behalf of the prosecution.

The prosecution case was that Mohan Kumar, a native of Manjeri, and his mother drove Bindu, a veterinary doctor, to suicide.
