Central Water Commission employee held for molesting Dalit woman

Ahmedabad, November 27: A CHIEF engineer in the Central Water Commission, Gandhinagar, Radhe Shyam Goel was arrested by the Gandhinagar police on Monday afternoon for allegedly molesting a woman employee in his office about 10 days ago.

Police said Goel was arrested following a complaint filed by the 45-year-old Dalit woman on November 8.

In her complaint, she has accused Goel of making advances at her and asking her to come to a rest house close to his office.

‘‘The complainant had alleged that Goel wanted to exploit her, by discreetly taking her to his rest house. She had also alleged that he offered to increase her salary in return,’’ Gandhinagar SP, R B Brahmbhatt said.

Goel was arrested and produced before a local court. ‘‘Goel was arrested after 10 days of police investigation.

“He has been booked on charges of molesting a woman and also under the Atrocities Act as she is a Dalit,’’ a Sector 7 police official added.
