A HIGHLY-regarded junior doctor at Scarborough Hospital was today starting a two-year jail sentence after being found guilty on two charges of sexually assaulting a patient.
Dr Amit Yadav shook his head as the unanimous verdicts of the six men and six women jury were read out. The doctor, who has a fiancee back home in India, faces possible professional ruin as the case will now go before the General Medical Council. After the verdict and sentencing, colleagues at Scarborough Hospital who had given references on his behalf were devastated. Some were visibly upset.
The complainant, who sat at the back of the court, left immediately after the judgement without making any comment. She cannot legally be identified.
Dr Yadav, 28, of Cherry Tree Avenue, came to Britain two years ago and had been working at the hospital since last summer.
