Against bid to evict Adivasis
KANNUR: Adivasi Gothra Mahasabha (AGM) leader C.K. Janu has said that Adivasis will begin agitation by erecting shelters in front of the residence of Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan if the Government tries to evict the tribal families from the Aralam farm here.
She was inaugurating a dharna in front of the Collectorate organised by the Rashtriya Mahasabha on the occasion of the Ambedkar Day on Wednesday.
Ms. Janu said the Adivasis would stage a march to the Secretariat on December 19 to herald the agitation. Stating that the Adivasis had not encroached on the farmland, she said they were entitled to inhabit the land.
Ms. Janu said those who were making moves to evict the Adivasis from the farmland that rightfully belonged to them were protecting the people illegally settling in Vadakkekalam and Adakkathod here.
She also accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) of moves to create trouble in the farm.
The Rashtriya Mahasabha leader said the party was influencing the police and Revenue Department machinery to fabricate fake cases against the Adivasis living in the farmland.
Rashtriya Mahasabha leaders Pallipram Prasannan and Sreeraman Koyyon were also present.
