Kochi, Jan. 21 (PTI): The Middle East-based 'Al Jazeera' English news channel is likely to be available in Kerala by mid-February, its Commercial Director Linsey Oliver said on Saturday.
The channel which was launched globally in November last, will be coming to Kerala very soon, she told a reporters here.
The channel would be available on cable, DTH and on the internet, she said.
Strategically-placed around the world in Doha, Kuala Lumpur and Washington, the channel will balance the information flow from South to North, provide accurate, impartial and objective news, she said.
"We want to give a different perspective to International news and are very excited to be here," she said.
The channel is awaiting downlinking license and is expecting it anytime now, Linsey said.
"We are not competing with local channels, but would be complimenting them," she said, adding the channel would focus on local opinions and local interests of a particular story.
Every story could be seen from different sides. One story could be seen as a positive or negative depending on the perspective where you are, she said, adding the channel would not focus on one point of view.
