Jail security tightened After Musical treat to BJP MP

HT Correspondent, Hindustan Times , Gorakhpur, February 1

THE DISTRICT administration beefed up security on the jail premises here on Thursday.

The steps were taken after SP MLA Amarmani Tripathi organised a musical programme for BJP MP Yogi Adityanath and his supporters in the jail.

Adityanath was arrested on January 28 in connection with Gorakhpur riots.

A Bhojpuri musical programme was organised in Shatabdi House (Barrack) of the district jail where Adityanath was lodged. Besides, a Bhagwati Jagran was held.

In view of the  celebration in the jail, the administration tightened its noose around saffron brigade supporters and leaders and restricted their entry into the jail on Thursday in Gorakhpur.

The Rapid Action Force personnel were also deployed at the district jail as part of the security measure.

The visitors were directed to submit an application for visiting the jail.

In protest against it, the supporters of Adityanath staged a demonstration on the jail premises.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party (SP) district president Chandrabali Yadav and many others sent a complaint to the director general of police (DGP). In the complaint they said jail manuals were violated.

The complaint further said unchecked flow of visitors to meet Adityanath continued for the past three days.

He was provided with mobile phones and other facilities.

Jail Superintendent Shashi Srivastav directed the officials to carry out an intensive  checking drive in all the jail barracks.
