Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 22 The Kerala government Thursday re-constituted the state Women's Commission with former high court judge D. Sreedevi as its chairperson.
Announcing this, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said the other members will be Meenakshi Thampan, T. Devi and P.K. Sainaba, all prominent Left leaders.
A woman from the scheduled caste or scheduled tribe would also be nominated, he said.
Sreedevi is heading the commission a second time. She was the chairperson when the Left Front government was in power between 1996-2001.
Talking to reporters after the announcement of her appointment, Sreedevi said: 'Studies have to be undertaken among the women in Kerala to find out their problems and take corrective measures. We shall seek help from the government too.'
