35 accused in Khairlanji Dalit killings discharged

BHANDARA: A special court hearing the case of the Dalit killings in Khairlanji village of Bhandara district on Thursday discharged 35 of the accused.

On February 12, the CBI, while filing a supplementary chargesheet against some of the accused under Sections 120B and 140 of the IPC, had urged the judicialmagistrate first class, Mohadi, P Y Ladekar, to discharge 35 of the 46 persons arrested in connection with the killing of four members of the Bhotmange family—Surekha, her daughter Priyanka, sons Sudhir andVishal—by amob on September 28 last year.

Among those arrested, 35 accused—all of whom were present in the court—were granted bail subsequent to completion of 90 days of magisterial custody remand, while the remaining 11 were remanded to judicial custody.
