Port Blair: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Commandant, arrested by the CBI in connection with the murder of a woman lawyer, was on Thursday remanded to judicial custody till March 21.
K.C. Suresh, arrested on Wednesday, was charged under Section 302 (murder), 449 (trespass), and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of IPC by the Chief Judicial Magistrate court.
Suresh was posted at the office of the Intelligence Bureau here during 2003 when V. Vasantha was murdered on December 1.
Suresh was at present posted as Commandant CISF at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery. — PTI
A Correspondent writes from Nedumbassery: The CISF at the airport here is without a head, at least for the time being, with the reported arrest of Suresh.
In the absence of the Commandant, the Assistant Commandants will be in charge. The CISF, which is in charge of the airport's security, has two Assistant Commandants, Suman Kumar and B.K. Chaturvedi, at the Kochi airport. Mr. Chaturvedi being the senor among the two will be in charge for the time being, the CISF sources said.
Shriram Bharath, Managing Director of the airport company, said that after he came to know about the arrest of Suresh, he spoke to the Director General of the CISF.
Mr. Bharath was informed that CISF was yet to get an official intimation about the reported arrest.
