New Delhi, 13 April 2016: NCHRO conducted a Two-day National level Human Rights workshop for activists at Delhi on 11 and 12 of April. NCHRO National Exco member Prof. Shamsul Islam (Delhi University) inaugurated the workshop.
The topics of the classes given were Human Rights: Theory and practice, Human rights situation in India and human rights activism, Human hights laws in India, Universal declaration of human rights and International human rights conventions, Judiciary and its structure – hierarchy and functioning, Procedures and need of documentation – from FIR to trial in human rights violations, How to use RTI for defending civil rights, Documentation of human rights violations and the illegal practices in the cases of draconian laws and Fact finding modalities.
The resource persons viz., Prof. P. Koya (General Secretary, NCHRO), Reny Ayline (Secretary, NCHRO), Adv. Aditya Wadhwa (Delhi), Adv. Abubacker Sabbaq (Delhi), Afroz Alam Sahil (Journalist, Delhi), Vipul Kumar (Research Fellow, Quill Fountation, Delhi), Adv. A. Mohamed Yusuff (Secretary, NCHRO) Ravi Nair (Executive Director, South Asia Human Rights Documentation Centre – SAHRDC, Delhi), Mohamed Ali Jinna (General Secretary, Popular Front of India) delivered the lecture.
Aitmad Ajmeri (State Secretary, NCHRO Rajasthan Chapter) coordinated the programme.
The activists from ten states viz., Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi participated in the workshop.
