Author, Journalist, Activist, Peacemaker – Alan Hart – will be profoundly Missed.
Alan Hart, one of the greatest truth-seeking journalists of our time, passed away on January 15, 2018. Alan Hart was a long-time advocate for the oppressed and marginalized, and a fighter for human rights, peace and justice. During his distinguished career, Alan Hart served as a correspondent for the BBC’s Panorama and for the major news service ITN, specialising in the Middle East. He has as much first-hand knowledge of the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. No Western journalist has had more intimate access to leaders on both sides than he has. He always campaigned for a peaceful solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
In the early 1970s, he produced the first-ever documentary on true dimensions of global poverty and its implications for all. The film, ‘Five Minutes To Midnight’, had its world premiere at the opening of the 7th Special Session of the UN General Assembly, and was versioned for schools and became a standard work of reference.
Alan was a brave man and a major contributor to our understanding of the Zionist project and Israeli politics. His trilogy “Zionism- The Real Enemy Of the Jews” was amongst the deepest studies of the Israeli/Palestinian conflicts. Alan Hart has written not only a strong indictment of Zionism, based on both research and personal experience but also provided us with a charter for a better future.
He was a remarkable man, and his intellect and determination are an example for mankind. NCHRO extends our deepest condolences to his family.
