Extra Judicial Killings Erode Rule of Law – NCHRO Press Meet in Chennai and Calicut

04 Nov 2019.
A team of human rights activists raised their concern over the recent fake encounters carried out by Thunderbolt(the anti-insurgency force of the Kerala Police) in Agaly, Palakkad.
Extrajudicial executions are acts of extreme cruelty, violating the Rule of Law. Those responsible for committing or ordering extrajudicial killings are criminally liable as per our law. NCHRO calls to adopt with immediate effect the necessary measures to protect all persons from targeted killings, and conduct an independent investigation to identify and hold perpetrators of extra judicial killing accountable.
We assert that extrajudicial killings have no place in a democracy like ours that is founded on the rule of law. Extrajudicial killings have no place in a democracy that constitutionally guarantees against the deprivation of life, liberty or property without due process of law, and the presumption of innocence. Extrajudicial killings have no place in a democracy that gives to the courts the sole power to adjudge guilt and mete out punishment.
Prof.A.Marx(Chairperson, NCHRO), Reny Ayline(National Secretary, NCHRO), Prof.P.Sivakumar, Ko.Sugumaran(Exco member, NCHRO), Adv Pugalendhi, Adv N.Maonharan(OPRD), Prof.Tirumavalavan, Adv.K.Nizamuddin and Adv.A.Nowfal have attended the press meet and released a report along with recommendations against the serious human rights violation by the ruling LDF government in Kerala.
