NCHRO elects new office-bearers for the year 2021-2023.

National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) have elected new office bearers for the year 2021-2023 at its General Assembly held at the Chennai Reporters Club in Chepauk, Chennai.

The general assembly commenced with the opening remarks of General Secretary, Prof. P Koya. He reiterated that NCHRO is all about bringing everybody who cares about human rights. NCHRO, strives to respect, support and ensure the inclusion of all voices. The diverse character of this general assembly is a living embodiment.

In his Presidential speech Chairperson, Prof. A Marx said that the history of NCHRO has convincingly proved the universal value of human rights and the importance of education of humanity for justice. Our work echoed that the human rights not only had an intrinsic value but has a clear practical value in the field. Human rights need critical accompaniment and this general assembly is the site for the same.

Representatives from Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Manipur participated.

The working report of the previous year was presented by the Secretary of NCHRO, Reny Ayline. The report notes that civil society’s role gone beyond advocacy to direct human rights field work.

The second part of the report was presented by NCHRO Coordinator Adv. MK Sharafudheen.

Work to promote human rights in our country was reviewed and it is evident from the reports of various State committee that, NCHRO become largest operating civil society network in the country. The new executive committee of the year 2021 to 2023 was elected in the meeting.
